| Responsibilities of the councilman |
- A councilman shall perform
faithfully his/her duties in accordance with good conscience,
shall be under an obligation of integrity, and shall maintain
proper dignity as a member of the Gangneung Local Council.
- A councilman shall not abuse his/her position in order
to take advantage of the good situation of the contract
with local self-governing bodies, public bodies, or enterprises,
and shall not take financial rights or profit, nor shall
not mediate those kinds of things.
- A councilman shall not hold position(s) or offices in
addition that are prohibited by law.

- Term in office for members is 4
years, begins at the next day of the expiration of the
predecessor. However, the term of the member elected by
a special election begins from the very moment of settlement
of election, and serves the remaining part of the term
of the predecessor.
- Term in office for members of the 7th council is 4 years,
and expires on June 30, 2006.
